Sage is a classic herb for the mouth-- as a mouthwash and gargle, it helps with inflammations of the mouth, gums, throat and tonsils. Its antimicrobial essential oils soothe the mucous membranes and fight infections.
Internally, Sage is very effective for hot flashes and is often referred to as "internal deodorant", as it reduces sweating when taken internally.
In addition to being a delicious cooking spice, Sage is a digestive aid and relieves gas and bloating.
Sage may cause uterine contractions and should be avoided during pregnancy.
