Comfrey Leaf, which is also known as Symphytum officinale, slippery root, knitbone, blackwort, bruisewort and healing herb, has many common uses. Comfrey leaves have tiny surface hairs which make them hard to dry quickly without spoiling. Allantoin, a consitituent in comfrey, makes the leaves a useful emollient in lotions, creams, and hair rinses.
