Product Description Herbalists Comments Supplement Facts and Ingredients

Mullein leaves make a tea that's gently soothing to both the skin and mucosa, including the respiratory system. Besides its soothing and calming properties, it's also cooling when there's a feeling of hot, dry tightness in the throat or chest. The large, velvety leaves of the mullein plant make a soothing herbal tea. As an ingredient in salves and poultices, they have the same soothing effect on the skin.

Mullein is a very gentle herb, with an affinity for the upper respiratory system, and exerts a mild sedative action upon the lungs.* Historically the flowers were steeped in oil and administered to soothe earache and the leaves were made into a tea to support upper respiratory health.* The dried leaves have been smoked for centuries as a relaxant for spasmodic lungs and can be mixed with herbs such as lobelia to enhance this effect.*

Back in the late 1970s I was given a recipe for a tea that would act as an expectorant.  I think the name was "Kill the Pain Wayne's Expectorant Tea".  One needs equal parts dried mullein, coltsfoot, and lungswort to make the tea.  It has never failed me.
