Lemon Balm from Oregon’s Wild Harvest is an herbal supplement that
may support restfulness after a long day at work, a difficult day with
the kids, or during cram sessions before a big test. Lemon balm leaf,
also known as Melissa officinalis, is a perennial herbaceous
plant in the mint family. The leaves have a mild lemon scent that are
the result of chemical compounds that include caryophyllene, which is
present in many essential oils.
Lemon balm leaf has been cultivated and used throughout history,
including Greek and Roman cultures. Today it is believed that
caryophyllene in lemon balm leaf may interact with receptors in the
brain that seek to support a healthy stress and frustration response,
and promote social behavior and relaxation.
Tannis and eugenol are also part of the lemon balm leaf composition
and are believed to support a healthy immune response to internal
challenges, muscle relaxation, and the temporary relief from occasional
